Class Description

The course is offered for Senior secondary school level candidates with good proficiency in English (IELTS 5.5) and Mathematics for 2½ years duration. On completion of the course the participant will graduate with a Diploma in Meteorology and qualified to do weather Forecasting job as a Met Forecaster.

  •  Differentiate scales of analysis in Meteorology and the importance of micro, meso and macro, synoptic and planetary scale.

  •  Apply dynamic and thermodynamic concepts to derive the energetic of the atmosphere for forecasting and prediction
  •  Apply the techniques for synoptic forecasting for short- and medium range forecasts
  •  Identify the formation, movement, and prediction of weather systems in the tropics and extra tropics with emphasis to Ocean land interaction.
  •  Analyze satellite cloud images to distinguish weather system.
  •  Practice and preparation of Forecast Reports for short range and medium range forecast  for, fog ,dust, thunderstorm ,gustiness etc with the help of Forecast Simulator.
  •  Prepare forecast reports for general, marine, and aviation weather forecasting based on     Synoptic and dynamic techniques
  •  Demonstrate understanding of atmospheric stability, cloud physics, cloud formation and precipitation processes. Simulate various weather conditions using the Forecast Simulator system. Formulate forecasts of temperature and other weather parameters. Understand the principles of modern numerical weather prediction. To perform simple simulations of weather forecast using NWP system using an Atmospheric Numerical Model.
