Class Description

This is an ICAO standard training package. The course is designed to provide airside safety operators with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively apply standard radio communication procedures/phraseology and adhere to markings / signage in accordance with national and international standards when operating on the airside. It consists of two modules, which include theory and practical training.

1. Airside Markings and Signages

  • – Marking and lighting
  • – Information and Instruction signs

2. Radio Telephony Procedures

  • – Transmitting Techniques
  • – Standard phraseology
  • – Call Signs for Aeronautical Stations
  • – Coordination with Air Traffic Control units
  • – Clearances for entry to the Manoeuvring Area
  • – Communication requirements and Visual Signals
  • – Interpretation of Light Signals from the Control Tower

Course outcome:

On successful completion of the course, the participant will be equipped with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively apply standard radio communication procedures/phraseology and adhere to markings / signage in accordance with national and international standards when operating on the airside.
